collision course for the C IV

Question consequent to the task on Angular Momentum

exercising the rotating disk make the assumption that between the circle and the part intena there is friction. If the initial conditions remain the same: the internal disk and corona are in solidarity and in rotation, upon the mechanism that initially stopped outside the outer ring (no matter how that happens). What is the kinematics of different parts of the mechanism after the operation?

Deadline: Saturday, December 9 to 24.

Bonuses: + for action;

+ + for a significant intervention;

+ + + + for a remedial action.

Buo fun.

Titleist Ohio State Visor

Revenge of Sylvester

reserved Contribution to Class IV C.

The problem that I propose is a classic use of the concept of center of mass.
Consider a cage that contains, on a perch, the canary Tweety.
The cage is suspended from the ceiling by a spring and all Canary + Cage equilibrium is reached. Sylvester, now exasperated, takes aim and fires a gun Tweety shot to death. Tweety falls from its perch on the bottom of the cage. These are the questions:

1) During the fall of Tweety, the cage rises, falls or stays in the same position?

2) Once the canary is lying on the bottom of the cage and is back in balance, its position is lower, higher or unchanged compared to the previous case?

Bonuses:

for participation: +

for significant contributions even if not decisive: + +

for a complete solution of two questions: + + + +

Timing: 24:00 hours next Saturday.
Good job.

The figure shows a body resting on a horizontal surface with friction.

The body is pressed against a rigid rod of a compressed spring. Explain why, in this situation, it is not possible to determine either the direction nor the magnitude of friction force.
Bonuses: A (+ +) in the first comment makes sense, a (+) next to each significant comment; (+++) to a solution of the question.
Deadline: Thursday 12 / 4 / 07, 24:00.
